Sarmiento is a photo-based artist working in analog and digital collage to alter architectural and photographic norms to challenge what it means for something to be a photograph. He works with imagery that reflects his own questions of home, identity, and humanity; often capturing domestic spaces, self portraits, nature, and abstract shapes and forms. His process involves highlighting the feeling of being in between, a recollection of moments and feelings that feel unknown but also familiar.
